Great Water Ceramics was founded in 2001 along a tidal portion of the lower Penobscot River about 1 mile north of the Winterport Village in coastal Maine. In 2004, the studio moved to Western Pennsylvania. We are now located in Meadville, PA, the center of the tool and die industry in the US and home of Allegheny College. Meadville is about 90 miles North of Pittsburgh and 30 miles South of Erie, PA on US Interstate 79. Great

Each chawan is carefully hand-built to honor the tradition of tea. For quality control, I often prepare tea in select bowls; a practice that provides me great pleasure and is an initiation for the bowl before it goes on its way.
